Its the first and only time i've seen it drop but from what i've read in the comments i guess its pretty rare. Comment by rodier Today I was grinding savage leather from crocos Uldum west from lost city, at river.. And I got 1 from this. So its possible to get it by skinning even from standard animals beasts. I got savage leathers adn 1 pristine hide, so ration isn't bad :-D On my server auchindoun EU price is around G so no point in turning savage leather to pristine hide.

I was skinning on my shaman on Illidan with nobody else around luckily and I was skinning some mobs someone else didn't and I got a pristine hide. Pretty sure it's just a very rare occurrence. Not sure if it was a fluke or just an extremely rare drop but I'm guessing these work the same way as Arctic Fur does in Northrend; a rare drop from any creature that yields savage leather. Have been working on another set of vicious, and got a Pristine drop today. I had no idea it even dropped. I'd say all told, I've skinned a minimum of 6k savage leather in the last 5 weeks, including the AH sells. Most has come form Deepholm's Pale Roost basliliks, and Fireland's lava spiders.
