Why live in truro
International travel is made possible thanks to Newquay Airport too, flying to a number of cities around the world. The city has a strong selection of both primary and secondary schools, with plenty of independent options in line with demand in the area.
Independent primary school options include Polwhele House School , a preparatory school for ages , and all through schools Truro School and Truro High School. Higher education courses are offered at several of the secondary school sixth forms, including Truro School and Truro High School.
The stunning scenery of Cornwall means Truro is the perfect spot for outdoorsy types looking for the best of the British coast and countryside. Walkers will be right at home with miles of coastal paths and unspoilt scenery, with large parts of Cornwall having been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Truro is well known as a shopping destination too, with people travelling from all over the area to enjoy big name brands as well as independent shops and bustling cafes.
The Pannier Market is a hub in the town, with shops selling fruit and veg, flowers, bread and cakes, and haberdashery. The cathedral runs regular tours as well as workshops, recitals and concerts. The Royal Cornwall Museum is also located in Truro, with exhibitions focused on science, art and local history.
The Hall for Cornwall is a hub for arts and theatre, with live shows, concerts, touring productions and workshops all year round. Truro has a long running reputation as one of the strongest entrants into the yearly Britain in Bloom contest, winning Champion of Champions in Local businesses are always keen to support the sponsorship of hanging baskets and flower beds. Naturally the more urban and more central areas will have a higher rate of crime, but often you can be surprised when that is not the case and that is the area you want to move to.
The English Indices of Deprivation also has crime statistics for Truro. These statitics are published by the government every years. They are a measure of how likely you are to be a victim of personal or material crime in an area, such as muggings or burglary. The quaint antique shops are charming and really fun to look at. You never know what you may find.
But Charlestown is a really beautiful place. Mawes, in The Roseland, by Rachel. Swinging on the beach with an ice cream. And being able to see the stars at night!
The worst thing? My favourite things to do here include sailing out of the harbour, anchoring up at The Lighthouse Beach and enjoying a picnic on the water! Saltash has some nice cafes too. My best tips would be that it takes no time at all to get into Plymouth, and house prices are hugely reduced by being over this side of the Tamar, and for living in the middle of the countryside surrounded by fields.
That, alongside the perfect views and coves of Bedruthen Steps , it makes a perfect place to live for someone who likes to adventure in the outdoors like me. The worst thing has probably got to be the tourists during peak summer. Newquay is notorious for attracting tourism during June, July and August and I would recommend people to stay away during those months if you want a quiet break away. My favourite place to eat?
WAX on Bank Street is a fantastic little place, just in the centre of town. Please be aware, your results are only an estimate and should not be considered as a mortgage quote. Bodmin is old enough to feature in the Doomsday book and used to be the county town of Cornwall. It has a railway station, so could be good for commuting, and is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
For keen environmentalists, the Eden project is close at hand and as nowhere in Cornwall is too far from the coast, your nearest beach is less than 9 miles away!
