The steering is not overly quick The KOM Hunter. G works. The G Works is a Saxon Team. T Carbon RS. Saxon team. Ts Yari. Saxon Cross. I think a lot of people have unrealistic views on how much stuff should cost.
Taiwan where most of these things are actually made, has been developing at a very high rate. People there are more wealthy and wages are rising which filters through to increasing manufacturing costs.
The weaker pound is a minor element of the increased prices. Companies took the Brexit devaluation hit for a while, without increasing prices, but they have to go up eventually, and a bit more to compensate. Thanks to Brexit we all have less money in our pockets so we are buying less bikes so the bike shops try and get more back.
Well said Ben! Having just got a Bird Zero TR a few weeks ago, coming from a 4 yr old Soul, I can say there is nothing budget feeling about the frame and the build quality is right up there with the big brands. Recently read an article that the global bike industry is still going strong — and also the UK bike industry is doing o.
No idea where this is connected to. And with these rebates the OEM makes their money. Not with the frames…. Very long transferable warranty 2. Good weights for alloy frames 3. Great geometry 4. Tested just four weeks ago the Whyte V2 is as fresh as they come. Whyte has been at the forefront of hardtail development for as long as we can remember.
This Whyte V2 looks set to rack up test wins and awards. Model years can be confusing and often limiting, so Whyte has come up with a neat alternative. Models launched earlier in the season get the V1 tag; then as frames get updated or different parts become available later in the season the V2 version gets rolled out. The geometry and sizing remain unchanged between V1 and V2, but Whyte has ditched the InterGrip seat camp in favour of a traditional seat collar.
So now ham-fisted riders and mechanics will be less prone to over-tightening the seat clamp which could cause the dropper post to bind. Thankfully, Whyte has retained the rubber boot, and combined with a forward facing slot in the frame, the V2 should be every bit as weather-proof as the outgoing design. Hourglass seatstays frame 2. The latest bike sporting a mm travel RockShox Pike instead of a Revelation.
All in the entry-level RockShox Pike RC Select feels super composed, the Debonair spring and Charger damper working in unison to provide good small bump sensitivity with ample support, while still being able to use the full measure of the mm travel on bigger hits. Back in the nineties, Kona and Marin were the two big names in mountain biking, and it was Marin who teamed up with John Whyte — a suspension designer at Benetton Formula One — to create the very unique-looking PRST Thus, Whyte was born.
Since then, Whyte bikes has seen huge success. The T won our Trail Bike of the Year category back in and has remained one of our favourite trail bikes as it continues to evolve. Whyte is making a name for itself in the off-road category for sure, but it also produces a range of road, gravel and hybrid bikes.
For the roadies, Whyte offers the Wessex range at the top-end, with a 1x drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, full carbon frame in race geometry and a Di2 model. If you want to spend a little more, the Gisburn does the same job, but with the superior SRAM Force 1 groupset and a dropper post, among other upgrades. The Whyte Glencoe is designed exactly for this purpose, with b wheels and fat 47c WTB Horizon tyres, making for a comfortable ride no matter what the terrain.
If enduro is more your thing, the S is an incredibly fun and versatile bike, which gives you the option to switch between 29in and It comes with Whyte's T CR. Its 1x drivetrain offers simplicity in the urban environment.
